/* The site's two vendored faces (fonts/README.md), declared here rather than
   in custom.scss.

A Sass `url()` inside the theme is not left alone: Quarto treats it as a
dependency, resolves it against the *project* directory rather than against
where the stylesheet compiles to, and copies the file next to the compiled
CSS. So `url("../../fonts/x.woff2")` -- correct for a browser reading
`docs/site_libs/bootstrap/`, which is where the theme lands -- sent Quarto
looking two levels above the repo and failed the render outright.

The established workaround in this repo is to write such a path as if from
the project root and let Quarto copy the file next to the compiled CSS --
see the `prefers-reduced-motion` block at the foot of `custom.scss`, which
does exactly that for one image. That would work here too, but it puts a
second copy of 300 KB of font in `site_libs/` while `resources: fonts/**`
is already carrying the first to `docs/fonts/`, and `repo.widgets` would
then be guarding the copy nothing loads.

A plain stylesheet is copied verbatim and keeps its own URLs, and this one
sits in the same directory as the files it names, so the paths are bare
siblings that no output layout can break. `_quarto.yml` links it and
   `resources: fonts/**` carries the whole directory to docs/; `repo.widgets`
in `_variables.yml` lists all three files, because a `@font-face url()` is
CSS content the link harvest cannot see.

`font-display: swap`: these are the body text, and a reader waiting on
78 KB before seeing a word is worse than a reflow.

Both faces are variable, so one file per family covers every weight the
site uses -- which is why there is no 400/600/700 trio here. */
